Today we remember and we celebrate the beautiful and inspirational Charlee Moore, who has passed away at the age of 90. Charlee was the wife of Bob Moore, founder of Bob’s Red Mill Natural Foods. Her lifelong passion for wholesome, natural foods helped inspire the creation of Bob’s Red Mill and remains a core value of the company 40 years on. Charlee was also actively involved in philanthropy, focusing on the health of future generations. We have often heard it said that behind every great man, there is a great woman. This can truly be said of Bob and Charlee Moore.
When we read Ken Koopman’s wonderful biography of Bob, “People Before Profit”, we were not only inspired by Bob’s story, but we were also deeply moved by Charlee’s dedication and steadfast support for Bob and his vision as they faced the many challenges that starting and maintaining your own business brings. As a family business ourselves, it is inspiring how they faced the challenge of self-employment together as a couple and their steadfast loyalty to each other, to their family and to their employees. Their values deeply resonate with us.
Charlee will certainly be missed. Our sincerest condolences to Bob, their children and families and to their wider family that is The Mill team.
